Connor tells us about himself with a simple Q&A

Q1 Who is Connor?

My name is Connor McCoy and I am a 23 year old artist who majors in 3D animation and modeling. I like to think of myself as a proud and determined individual who carved who I am now out the shell of who I used to be. Years of looking at what I saw in the mirror and not being as proud as I should be I turned to art and sculpture. Then it dawned on me that if I can do it to a canvas I can do it to myself so I recreated myself into the man I always wanted to be a man of confidence and swagger. Jaro.

Q2 Where do you get your inspiration?

When I was young, what inspired me to become an artist was my older sister. I would be amazed by the fantastic worlds she would create in her art and I wanted to do the same. Then I discovered the world of video games and comic books and the heroes that inhabited them which shot my aspirations to the stars. If a piece of art can make a young Connor follow his dream and become an artist imagine what my work could do for the next generation.

Q3 Did you have any training?

I have always practiced some form of art be it in school art classes or constant hours of doodling at home. But the time I took my art training seriously is when I was around 16 and I joined the higher educational classes for art. Then eventually in University. In a nutshell yes I have had a fair amount of training

Q4 How would you describe your art?

I would describe my art as heavily influenced by the worlds of comic books. Learning from all of the great artists of the past to have a good understanding of art theory and the fundamentals. I chose to remix that with my love of comic style line work to create this hybrid comic realism style of art that I exclaim in all of my works.

Q5 What artists inspire you?

H.R. Giger         Todd Mcfarline         David Wohl

michelangelo    Leonardo da vinci    jack kirby

Jason jones       Beeple                      Bill Elis

L. a aura              yayoi kusama      andy warhol

Q6 What does Sentiment mean to you?

Sentiment is the feeling behind an action. The inner intentions behind anything. The will that drives you to perform any action of giving or taking. It is also a tool to help develop a strong character.
