Anca Jitariu Gliga
Anca tells us about herself with a simple Q&A
Q1. Who is Anca?
Anca is a mum, an artist and art teacher. After an art debut, over 20 years ago,
she decided to study more easel painting and mural art.
In 2010, Anca completed her studies with an MBA at Academy of Fine Arts
Nicolae Grigorescu, Bucharest. Following the experience in the Secular and
Byzantine art, her work has been exhibited in over 20 painting exhibitions in
Romania and also internationally. Private exhibition ‘Alzheimer’s In the Frame’ at
Elena Shchukina Gallery in Mayfair London, Art Show at Olympia Center, UK, Walk of
Art in Switzerland, permanent artist at Gallerique online art gallery from Chicago,
Swissartexpo in Zürich and a published artist in Contemporary art magazine, Spotlight in Lyon, France.
Q2. Where do you get your inspiration?
Human expressiveness was a main source of inspiration, I always liked to observe and study the features of a face with less common lines. It's a great feeling when I capture the human emotion in paint, especially when I want to make a realistic portrait. Nature is another beautiful source of inspiration, from a simple reproduction of a landscape to an overwhelming experience, because it reminds me of the places I was and what they meant to me. So, when I imagine a corner of nature, I move on to another technique, from realism to a stylized interpretation.
Q3. Did you have any formal training?
Ciprian Porumbescu Art School, licenced in Easel painting studio, Suceava (2001-2005)
Academy of Fine Arts ‘Nicolae Grigorescu’ Bucharest Romania, licenced in Mural art studio (2005-2008)
Academy of Fine Arts ‘Nicolae Grigorescu’ Bucharest Romania, Mural art studio,
MBA degree (2008-2010)
Q4. How would you describe your art?
For many years I've played with different concepts and techniques in an attempt to define my style. Almost every time when I stood still in front of a blank canvas I imagined what I wanted to express. For a while, my desire and goal were to create a harmonious blend, on canvas, wood or wall, between realistic and abstract elements. Defining my unique signature was an insightful and soul-searching process, but it led me to better know my artistic self and gave me the clarity to recognise that my art revolves around classic details, with spontaneous large shapes in portraiture, landscape, still life and abstract compositions.
Q5. Which artists inspire you?
When I was a child I wanted to paint landscapes like William Turner, then in my school years I fell in love with Caravaggio's chiaroscuro and Vermeer's materiality. Impressionism has always fascinated me, and Klimt's golden leaf technique has inspired me in my recent work.
Q6. What does Sentiment mean to you?
Each piece of puzzle so beautifully exposed compose a unique piece of art. The 1000 pieces are like the special moments spent by the artist in creating the work and now through this project, the collector can take part in this experience directly. It's wonderful! It means a lot
