Gianmarco Carbone

Gianmarco tells us about himself with a simple Q&A

Q1. Who is Gianmarco?

Gianmarco is an emerging artist, born in 2001 in a small Sicilian town in Acate,

From an early age he had pencils and drawing sheets in his hands, with which
he tried to relate to what he saw and heard.

Drawing for him has always been a characterizing part of his path, of his growth
and of his language as it reflected inner growth.

He is an energetic, thoughtful and calm person.

Q2. Where do you get your inspiration?

My language is always changing.

Some time ago I found my inspiration through the human body but, I often also analyzed its psychic sphere and what therefore concerns the interiority of each of us.

So I believe my inspiration comes from my inner world, from my synchronization

with it and who I really am, finding my frequency.

Q3. Did you have any training?

In Sicily I graduated from the S. Fiume artistic high school in Comiso, specializing in Sculpture.

Obviously I found a more suitable means of expression for my art: graphics.

So today I study at the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, graphics section.

Q4. How would you describe your art?

I would not be able to place my way of expressing myself in a well-defined context; precisely because it is constantly evolving.

But I could explain it by stating that my style is very much based on the line and its way of alternating and changing. The line for me has become an expression of my inner world, I describe my frequencies through the destruction and recomposition of the line.

Its formation with globes, circles and discontinuous lines allow me to give an evocative power to everything.

Q5. What artists inspire you?

I am not so much inspired by other artists but more than anything else by artistic currents, such as Abstractionism. I really admire Vladimír Boudník's explosion.

I also find several philosophical currents concerning the human psyche interesting.

Q6. What does Sentiment mean to you?

The "Sentiment" initiative is a way to be able to share art in the collective. A way to make everyone feel close and at the same time have a piece of us inside. A feeling, an emotion translated into a work of art. A piece of us that, transfigured into a canvas or a sheet, that manages to strike the soul of all of us.
