Jonel tells us about herself with a simple Q&A
Q1. Who is Jonel Scholtz?
I am an artist from South Africa.I lived on a farm for most of my life but also
experienced city life because I grew up in Johannesburg. I have a degree in
sciences with main subjects Chemistry and Biochemistry. My passion is painting
and creating which I started doing professionally in 2003. I do create everyday but
do not set out to do so, it just happens naturally like breathing.
I love to dance, eat cake, sing to the radio and live in the moment because life is just
this moment you are in.
Q2. Where do you get your inspiration?
Life inspires us all. Your trials and victories, your sadness and happiness, your breaking heart and abundant loves... all things influence what you create.
Q3. Did you have any training?
I trained with American artist Louise Goudemond from 1988 to 1996 in all mediums but mainly oils.
Q4. How would you describe your are?
Most of the days I can not even describe my mood, just as off beat that is, so is my art. Mostly Impressionistic especially my portraits. They are moments in the past I dragged back into the future. They should have dissipated, but I capture the emotions and personality of the moment.
Q5. What artists inspire you?
American artist Burton Silverman and Lucian Freud.
Q6. What does Sentiment mean to you?
Sentiment is a tender emotion and that is all I know.

This beautiful painting started it's journey in South Africa with an emotional message. Now it is part of the Sentiment collection and has been divided into 1000 pieces allowing friends, family and fellow art lovers to connect to this story and amazing artist.
