Lio tells us about himself with a simple Q&A

Q1. Who is Lio?

Lio, originally from Guadeloupe (French West Indies) is passionate about the inclusion
of art in the everyday fabric of our lives. He started to paint in 2015; waking up one
day and feeling compelled to paint! That feeling of emotional connection.

I’m an artist, painter, drawer, but first an artist.

I like to think that my work is always a challenge about creating innovations and trying
to get out of my comfort zone.


Q2. Where do you get your inspiration?

From my mum, my grandma and every woman who have inspired my art and all parts of my life.


Q3. Did you have any training?

Not really, I’m self taught, and I prefer spontaneity like this. My art is more about feeling than thinking


Q4. How would you describe your art?

My art is a point of spontaneity and feeling, love and harmony


Q5. What artists inspire you?

Dali and Picasso, but also all what inspired them, meant, African aesthetic


Q6. What does Sentiment mean to you?

Sentiments are in link with feelings. Sentiments are obviously the beginning of art, all pieces of art begin with a sentiment, a feeling

Lio's Sentiment

'Glaring Eyes'

This artwork is now part of the Sentiment collection and has been divided up into 1000 pieces allowing friends, family and fellow art lovers to connect to his story.

Each piece is mounted on a 24-carat gold leaf base with a thread of gold running through each piece. This connects all the pieces together and to the artist and in turn all the artists in the Sentiment collection.

Framed in a black wooden box frame, signed and numbered ready to share and be collected.
