Richard Lubert
Richard tells us about himself with a simple Q&A
Q1 Who is Richard?
I was born in 1971 and I have been teaching yoga for about 20 years.
I grew up on the banks of the Loire near Nantes in France which greatly increased
my creative spirit.water has become my favorite element, the ocean is close to
home which allows me to practice another passion, surfing.
I started to draw around the age of 15 but the taste of the paint appeared much later.
the watercolor appeared as evidence about 15 years ago, one stop after two years
due to lack of time. Resumption in 2020 during confinement. Since then I spend a lot
of time on painting.
Q2. Where do you get your inspiration?
My inspiration varies over time.architecture, old streets, nature, portraits ... there is so much beauty in this world that it is like candy for our creativity
Q3. Did you have any training?
I am totally self-taught.
I didnʼt take a class, I learned by myself by making a lot of mistakes at first. With work and perseverance, we manage to create something satisfying.
Q4. How would you describe your art?
The use of water in watercolour reveals transparency and a certain self- emptying.
You canʼt always control where the water goes.
Iʼd say itʼs an art that brings and develops letting go and self-confidence.
Q5. What artists inspire you?
The artists who inspired me are Rembrandt, Jean Francois Millet, Eugene Delacroix, Auguste Veillon, John Singer Sargent, William Turner and the list is still long.
