  • Tamara Jovandic

< Back Tamara Jovandic So, About me: I am predominantly figurative artist, but I also like non narrative aspect of abstract thought. The female body is my main figurative subject, and for me it all starts in my studio with life drawing models, working from observation. These are then enlarged on to the bigger canvases using bold brushstrokes, deep colour, texture, and feelings which makes intuitive process to begin. My aim is always to experiment and grow out of comfort zone, without fear of loosing it all. I finished Academy of Art in Sarajevo, but I live and work in North London since taking exile in UK. I had numerous group and solo exhibitions in UK and Internationally such as: Saatchi Gallery, Cork Street, Royal College of Art, Mall Gallery and many more. I am award winning painter, interested in human condition, expression and emotion. My art is often autobiographical. ‘Tamara talks to our most suppressed unconscious thoughts. Her works are captivating voyage into our own depths and darkness.’ Art Historian: Karen Lappon I am inspired by many artists and movements. To name the few: Caravaggio as perhaps my favourite for his Chiaroscuro, Francis Bacon for his nudes, George Baselitz for his upside-down figures, Willem de Kooning for his bold brushstrokes, Antoni Tapies and his Informel style gesture, and many more. www.tamarajovandic.com @tamarajovandic Tamara's Sentiment The Artist is currently producing the piece for the Sentiment collection. • Oldhaus

< Back Oldhaus Oldhaus tells us about himself with a simple Q&A; Q1. Who is Oldhaus? Born in 1985, Oldhaus saw the light of day as the son of an Italian mother and German father. He Grew up in Germany. In 1998/99 he discovered his love for spray cans and street art. After studying design, which he successfully completed at the Dusseldorf University of Applied Sciences in 2014, he decided to become a freelance artist and commissioned painter. In addition to many graffiti events and exhibitions on German soil (Hamberg, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Cologne etc) His art drove him from Europe (Spain, Greece, Swiss, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Netherlands, France, Poland Tzech Rep.) too Great Britain and finally to Belarus where he left his mark in the form of murals. Q2. Where do you get your Inspiration? My Inspiration comes from everywhere. From nature, from the news, children, friends, music and from old masters. (I am a huge Caravaggio fan) as well as from contemporary artists, from films, from social networks, everything can be inspiring. Sometimes it is the sunlight that fills the room with unique light, sometimes it is the hole in my girlfriends sock that gives me new ideas. Q3. Did you have any training? I grew up in a very art loving family. From childhood I have enjoyed working creatively with my family. On my way to school I always had my sketchbook with me when I was travelling by bus and train and I drew everyday people into the book at high speed. My studies then gave the finishing touches in terms of composition and colour theory. Q4. How would you describe your art? Uuuh that's a tough question.. I like to leave that to art scientists and historians if I should play a role in the huge art jungle. What I can say about my art is that my style is shaped by Graffiti, but I also like to play with light and shadow because of my love for the Renaissance artists. I am something between Graffiti and Old School. Q5. What Artists inspire you? As already mentioned there are lots of Artists if you start with the Masters Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Dali, Mucha, Gymnast, Schiele, Klimt etc, but a John Heartfield also inspires me. My Graffiti homies to other mural artists to my nephew..inspiration is everywhere when you have your eyes on the world and not on your smartphone. Q6. What does Sentiment mean to you? For me Sentiment is a kind of allegory of our society. Smartphones and streaming services have all made us more self-centered and isolated. The mood is exactly the opposite of this Phenomenon. A golden thread that connects all isolated loners and brings together a great vision. Although everyone is different in their form, you can grow into a large, firmly anchored construct if you fit in the right place Oldhaus's Sentiment The process of creating this image, printing, dividing and producing each piece will never be repeated making each piece of Sentiment original and unique. The collaboration with each artist dictates how each piece of art will be put together. A wonderfully organic process and very natural. Normally the final choice is obvious having meaning to each artist and an important part of their story now at this time. Oldhaus's Sentiment is now available. After transforming this piece into 1000 pieces each piece is then mounted on 24 carat-gold base and framed in a simple black wooden box frame.
