Q1 Who is Pahrnia?
An enigma. Hectic, loud, wild and unapologetically ruthless when on the pursuit of what she wants, but unexpectedly introverted. This is where the Biro portraits comes to life.
Q2 Where do you get your Inspiration?
The inspiration is the peace it brings, the peace my mind struggles to find elsewhere. The satisfaction the journey of creating a portrait inevitably brings is where my inspiration lies.
Q3 Did you have any training?
I’ve been drawing faces for over 15years, I love how the clean lines of a biro can map out facial structure and expressions precisely. So whilst I started with pencil and colours I didn’t like how they smudged easy, pen is strict and takes discipline to not mess up. I trained through trial and error.
Q4 How would you describe your art?
Whilst I personally am quite chaotic, loud & a colourful person, my work makes me an enigma. My art shows calmness, clarity and structure, it’s beauty in simplicity. This is only the end product of the whole story though, the mission to creating this is far from calm and simple. It’s engaging and captivating so I allow the viewers to take the journey of creation with me.
Q5 What artists inspire you?
Controversially I don’t find inspiration in well know artists, I find it in the dark corners of Pinterest or deviantart. Undiscovered struggling artists who create out of pure love with no prospect of making money. The artists who draw late at night, around their 9-5 when the world is asleep - this is where the real art hides.
Alternatively I also find huge inspiration and respect in different forms of artists (authors, public speakers, singers). Their journey to create their craft captivates me, as this resonates with my own work. It’s not about the piece, it’s the hardships endured that formulate the platform on which the art is presented. It’s how I take inspiration from James Smith (Social Media Famous Personal Trainer & Author), Matthew MCon (Oscar winning actor), Lady GaGa (Singer & Actress), Bon Iver (Indie Music Artist). You don’t have to specifically like the end product or their style, but knowing their fascinating and uphill journey forces you to value the pursuit of their success. They aren’t afraid either to share their struggles, providing it as a blue print for others to learn from.
Q6 What does Sentiment mean to you?
Sentiment is a piece of you. A smaller more intimate & vulnerable piece of you. It’s almost a secret, something I personally want you to have from me. A token of who I am, and a small snippet, a reminder of what I’m trying to achieve.

This original piece of artwork is from The Idle Biro collection of Icons gone but not forgotten. The original piece is A0 and is now in the process of being divided into
1000 pieces in the iconic jigsaw shape allowing friends, family and fellow art lovers to connect to her story.
Each piece is mounted on a 24-carat gold leaf base with a thread of gold running through it. This connects all the pieces together and to the artist and in turn all the artists in the Sentiment collection.
Framed in a black wooden box frame, signed and numbered ready to share and be collected.
