Steyn tells us about himself with a simple Q&A

Q1 Who is Steyn Skyler?

I am an upcoming artist from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. As a kid I always used to draw in the back of the class. After school, when I was around 11 years old, I started tagging on walls. I think deep inside, I always knew that this was my passion, but I just never realised it.

This all changed when I started creating and designing logos and house styles for companies and nightclubs. For me that was the moment where I realised that creating/designing is my passion and this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Q2 Where do you get your inspiration?

Nature is my springboard. From her I get my initial impetus. I have combined the visible drama of flowers, trees, and plants with the fantasy of wind blowing and sometimes with changing colors and forms. The main idea behind most of my art is to show a person's inner beauty and character through nature and wildlife.

Q3 Did you have any training?

Self taught artist.

Q4 How would you describe your art?

Mixed media art, combination of old and unique new techniques.

Q5 What artists inspire you?

Dali, Picasso

Q6 What does Sentiment mean to you?

Sentiment is what makes us human. People can be emotionless, cold or heartless. But in the end every single human on this earth has something or someone that they feel sentiment for. Someone who makes them act out of emotion instead of rational. These decisions based on sentiment might not always be the best, but it does makes us human and that’s the beauty of it.
